MASSVOID

GALLERY FOR CONCRETE ART MAASHAVEN ZUIDZIJDE 19 · ROTTERDAM

NOW POURING N°9 — SETTLEMENT 14 JUN–21 SEP 2026

MASS IS AN ARGUMENT. VOID IS ITS PROOF.

MASSVOID shows concrete as it is: cast, cured, stained, cracked. No renders, no scale models, no pictures of sculpture. The sculpture. The building is a 1957 aggregate silo that spent forty years holding sand, so it knows more about weight than we do. We hang nothing. Everything stands.

POUR N°9 SETTLEMENT

Concrete makes one promise and keeps it slowly: it gets harder, and it sinks. POUR N°9 watches settlement happen. New casts by Kettunen and Demir. Sokol's Monument, shown for the first time since Venice. And the building itself, measured weekly, sinking 0.3 mm a year into the Maas clay: listed, for once, as an artist.

THE SILO

The Verhoeven silo poured its last commercial aggregate in 1997, then stood open to the rain for twenty years. Hendrike Roos found it in 2018 with a birch growing out of cell 6. Emil Varga signed the structural report in one line: “Honest to a fault, like all good concrete.” We opened in 2019. We kept the birch.
